Management Teams and Belbin Team Roles
Raymond Meredith Belbin 1981

Meredith Belbin (1926-) conducted research into the interactions of members of teams at Henley Management College, resulting in his 1981 book Management Teams. His research showed that balanced teams with a good mixture of people with aptitudes suited to different team roles could consistently outperform teams of high-flyers. His work reinforces an idea that is promoted by Michael E. Gerber (see below), namely that teams can produce exceptional results without necessarily being composed of exceptional people.
